Traffic Control/MOT Plans

Traffic Control or Maintenance of Traffic Plans are very important to all work zones. They are the initial planning of any construction project that effects traffic. Traffic counts are determined, speed is factored in, length and type of construction is applied, signage is analyzed, and many other variables are considered. LMC Safety Barricade has been providing traffic control for over 40 years. With over 100 years of combined experience we can provide thoroughly analyzed and expertly prepared Traffic Control Plans using our collective knowledge along with VDOT & FHWA specifications.

Flagging Operations

These lane closures are utilized on two-lane roads with alternating traffic. LMC Safety Barricade Corp. can flag traffic in any situation. Our VDOT Certified Flaggers have decades of on the job experience and can operate easily in high traffic or complex work zones. Whether it’s a residential road or a four-way, signaled intersection LMC can maintain traffic and protect the work zone to ensure safety for all involved.

Lane Closures

LMC provides the highest level of service for all our traffic control projects. Lane Closures include, but are not limited to, Single Lane Closures, Multi-Lane Closures, Total Interstate Closures, Lane Weaves, and Custom Designed Closures.

Shoulder Closures

Shoulder closures are less intrusive to the traveling public, but still require proper set-up, maintenance, and take-down to ensure the safety of everyone involved. LMC’s experienced Traffic Control Technicians can set-up any and all types of shoulder closures on any type of roadway to included partial ramp closures.

Road Closures & Detours

Sometimes a lane closure or a shoulder closure won’t work and a road must be completely closed and detoured. LMC can provide road closure and detour plans for City or State approval and install traffic control devices to alert traffic of the closure and circumvent them around the work zone safely.

Mobile/Moving Lane Closures

Mobile/Moving Lane Closures are utilized for short duration work on all type of roadways. These closures require attention to detail and a level of awareness that only the most experienced Traffic Control Technicians possess. LMC Safety Barricade Corp. understands the importance of safety in these operations and provides only the highest level of service and experienced personnel.

Special Events, Parades, Marathons

LMC Safety Barricade Corp. can provide turnkey traffic control for special events such as marathons, parades, or concerts. We can work with the event coordinator and city officials to prepare a course and implement a traffic control plan to establish a safe route for event goers, runners, cyclists, and the traveling public.

Construction Sign Installation

LMC Safety Barricade Corp. offers installation for Temporary Construction Signs per VDOT & manufacturer specification. Our highly qualified sign crews will work with VDOT or municipalities to located and mark sign locations per the plans provided and overcome any sight distance or sign placement issues. We contact Miss Utility to ensure that all underground utilities are marked prior to installation. Construction signs can be mounted on metal or treated wood post depending on the customer’s request. With decades of experience, thorough training, and extensive knowledge of VDOT specifications our sign crews install construction signs efficiently, effectively, and to VDOT’s approval the first time…everytime. Once and done.

Temporary Tape Installation

Temporary Pavement Marking Tape is often used to temporarily change traffic patterns during construction. LMC offers installation and removal of Type D Class 1 & 2 and Type E Pavement Markings along with Arrows & Text. Our trained Traffic Control Technicians can layout, install, and remove temporary marking tape quickly and efficiently for any type of work zone.

Portable Traffic Signal Installation

Installation of Portable Traffic Signals

Trucks w/ TMA

Truck Mounted Attenuators are an integral part of high speed work zones. These trucks provide protection to the traveling public and the construction crew like no other device. By absorbing the impact of an errant vehicle these devices save lives. LMC Safety Barricade Corp. has a fleet of well maintained, VDOT spec’d, Trucks w/TMA (Crash Trucks) ready for rental or use in any type of traffic control.

Vorteq – TL3

The Vorteq TL-3 Trailer TMA is an innovative attenuator efficiently designed to meet both mandatory & optional NCHRP 350, Test Level 3 requirements. The easy to own and operate Vorteq TL-3 Trailer TMA is lightweight and attaches to most host vehicles with a 20 ton pintle hook and 7 pin electrical connector. Acceptable host vehicle weight is 9960lbs to infinite weight. Super fast attachment means you have full TMA protection in less than a minute. The open frame design means inspection and maintenance is quick & easy.

Portable Traffic Signals

Automated Flagger Assistance Device (AFAD)

Automated Flagger Assistance Devices (AFADs) are mechanically operated temporary traffic control devices that function under the same operational principles as traditional flagging. AFADs are considered a safety enhancement because they minimize flaggers’ direct exposure to traffic by allowing them to control the flagging device from an area away from traffic, such as behind a guardrail. As a result, the AFAD increases worker safety compared to traditional flagging methods. It is important to recognize that AFADs do not eliminate the need for qualified flaggers at the work zone. Personnel should still be traditionally trained and available to step in as a manual flagger in case of a technology malfunction, or driver intrusion.

Light Towers

Light towers are perfect for any application where portable lighting is required. Wanco Diesel Light Towers are ideal for wide-area outdoor lighting in a variety of construction, industrial and commercial applications. Barrels/Drums

Our Barrels/Drums (Group 2 Channelizing Devices) are molded from impact resistant polyethylene, are sheeted with 6” 3M Diamond Grade material, and meet all VDOT & FHWA specifications along with NCHRP-350 Crash Worthiness. These devices minimize vehicle damage and remains serviceable after numerous impacts. The barrel and base design minimize roll after vehicle impact. Solid rubber bases are designed to grip the road for maximum stability. The large access handle allows a worker’s gloved hand to easily handle and drag.

Compact Sign Stands

WindMaster Sign Stands have been engineered using the highest quality components and thoroughly tested to ensure exceptional performance. The bases are equipped with springs that have strong initial tension to resist twisting and turning of sign in high wind gusts. The aircraft aluminum legs have kick-release buttons to simplify set-up and take-down and rubber caps for traction. Each leg is adjustable for stability on curbs or uneven terrain. All WindMaster Sign Stands are NCHRP 350-accepted.

Roll-up Signs

LMC Safety Barricade Corp. carries over 50 legends in stock! We also make custom roll-up signs in house with same day turn around. Roll-up signs are constructed with 3M Diamond Grade material with cloth corner pockets and cross bracing for temporary traffic control. The corner pockets are made of heavy duty, 4-ply, minimum 14 oz. material. Each pocket is bar-tacked for added strength and double stitched directly to the back of the sign for durability. All signs come with high-quality, UV resistant polyester/glass fiber “pultrusion” ribs that are joined at the center with a special heavy-duty, low profile rivet to minimize scuffing and wear. Additional features include a velcro closure strip for keeping signs tightly rolled and printed legends on the outer edge of the sign for easy identification when sign is rolled for storage and transport.

Type B Warning Light (Solar Assist)

• Type A and C lights comply with current ITE purchase specification referenced in the Federal MUTCD (the light must function and meet output specifications without the solar panel hooked up for 336 hours in the Type A mode and 168 hours in Type C mode.

Type I & II Barricades

Type III Barricades

Our Type III Barricades are made from versatile galvanized square tubing for both skids and uprights. The skids are connected to the uprights by a stub weld base receiver. Multiple base options are available. Barricades are made to order and, with 3M Diamond Grade reflective sheeting, meet all VDOT and FHWA specifications.

Yodock Water-filled Barrier

The Yodock Wall Company pioneered the water filled barrier industry nearly 30 years ago. LMC Safety Barricade Corp. offers Yodock’s full line of innovative traffic control products centered around the patented ballastable Energy Disbursement Cell (EDC) known as the Models 2001, 2001M, and 2001M-BM. Made in the USA of heavy-duty polyethylene, these EDCs can be accessorized to meet a variety of traffic control product categories. Our water filled barriers have been tested, approved, and accepted by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) as being National Cooperative Highway Research Program Report 350 (NCHRP Report 350) compliant and meets established federal and state safety guidelines. We have the most FHWA acceptances in the water filled barrier industry.
